Match Report

Trim Celtic scorers: Harry Cottrell, Ciaran Caulfield, Kris Gorman, David Boyle Trim Celtic Gunners travelled to Greenstar Park for an exciting encounter against Kentstown today. The Gunners were really up for it and started very well with some very neat passing through the midfield area. Both teams cancelled each other out for the opening minutes with no shots on goal, until the 8th minute when Kris Gorman connected with a decent cross into the Kentstown area from today’s captain James Molloy which the keeper saved. The game continued in much the same vein with the Trim side having the lion’s share of possession. On the 12th minute the deadlock was eventually broken with some excellent play from Celtic with Ciaran Caulfield received the ball from Harry Cottrell and executed a neat pass to Kris Gorman who expertly slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner from 12 yards out. On the 18th minute and against the run of play, Kentstown equalized with a lucky goal. This didn’t discourage the Gunners though and the attacks continued and one minute later a looping shot from Harry Cottrell from outside the penalty area made its way into the Kentstown net. At this point Trim were in full control of the game which was in no small part due to the excellent work of Blake Gibbons in midfield. On the 25th minute Trim scored their 3rd goal when an excellent free kick from Joey Cole was directed into the net by Ciaran Caulfield. Trim had a few more chances before half time with shots from both Ciaran Caulfield and Aaron McCormack going narrowly wide. After half time, there were some changes made to the line-up with Joey Cole dropping into the centre half position and David Boyle moving to midfield. Kian Oliver came on to replace Harry Cottrell as striker. Kentstown started the second half well and were more involved in the play and on the 6th minute forced an excellent save from James Bourke. As if in response to this, the Gunners went on the attack and David Boyle coming through the middle took a shot from outside the penalty area which made it into the bottom right hand side of the Kentstown goal to give the Gunners their 4th goal. Trim continued to control the game and looked comfortable in possession, but in the 15th minute of the 2nd half, after a period of pressure from Trim, Kentstown broke through the middle and would have scored but from some very fine goalkeeping from James Bourke. On the 26th minute a free kick outside the box was sent just over the bar from David Boyle. One minute later, Kian Oliver after sidestepping a challenge sent the ball just left of the upright from just inside the box. The performance today was Trim’s best so far this season with the whole team really starting to gel. Best for Trim were Blake Gibbons, James Molloy, Joey Cole and Kris Gorman. Trim Celtic squad: James Bourke, James Molloy, Harry Cottrell, Blake Gibbons, Ciaran Caulfield, Joey Cole, Kris Gorman, Aaron McCormack, David Boyle, Sean Tully, Wesley Gibbons, Kian Oliver
