Match Report

Trim Celtic earned their first points of the season with a fine display and some crisp finishing at Hunky Dory Park. The visitors took the lead on 24 minutes with Brian Faulkner slotting home following a penetrating run and inch perfect through ball from Colm Carney. Paul Campbell tried his luck from distance on the half hour mark buy his 25 yard strike whistled past the post. In the buildup to halftime Boyne Harps were in the ascendency and almost grabbed an equaliser but the strike from 20 yards came back off the post. Early in the second half it was Celtic who were to be denied by the woodwork when Campbell's 25 yard drive was applied by the keeper with Carney's follow up hitting the post. Shortly after Celtic's lead was only kept intact thanks to a superb point blank save by keeper Iain Telford. This saved turned out to be more important as minutes later Celtic doubled their lead when Carney neatly headed home a James Goggins cross on the hour mark. The champions fought back and again Telford had to be at his best to keep them at bay with two saves in quick succession. However in their efforts to pull a goal back they left themselves open to counter attack with Campbell wrapping up the victory from Faulkner's through ball. Trim Celtic: Iain Telford, Zak McGowan, Eoin O'Connor, Cyril Halton, Sean FitzGerald, James Goggins, Paul Campbell, Colm Carney, Rob Sweeney, Mark Leavy, Brian Faulkner Subs: Declan Dowling (for Sweeney), Colm O'Reilly (for Goggins), Aaron Ryan (for Carney) Sent from my iPhone=
