Trim Celtic progressed to the knockout stages of the Kilmessan Shield with victory over Torro Utd. Celtic started well and took the lead when Mark Leavy's dangerous cross was headed to the net by a Torro defender. Paul Campbell came close with a header while Brian Faulkner's low driven shot forced the Torro keeper into a smart save. Leavy doubled Celtic's lead from a Campbell cross before the visitors hit the bar. Faulkner ensured the victory in the second half after combining well with Declan Dowling although Torro may feel the scoreline flattered the Trim side for who keeper Iain Telford made some important saves. James Goggins and Faulkner also excelled for Celtic. The game was halted early due to an injury sustained by Torro Utd player Andy Tolan who had to be taken to hospital and all at the club would like to wish Andy a speedy recovery.
