Bernard Barry was a founder member of Trim Celtic in 1967 and served for many years on the Club Committee in various capacities. He was one of the brave few to promote the game in Trim in those early days, for which he will always have a special place in the memory of Trim Celtic supporters. Bernard passed away in 1998.
A native of Dublin Bernard worked for many years in Trimfold and his contribution to the Club over many years was immense. Both of his sons John and Gerry played for the Club and also served the Club on Committee at different times.
In addition to serving on the Committee he also served the Club on the sideline for many years as Manager of the Club’s Second Team and in 1997 on the wish of his widow Rola, sons and daughter, this cup was introduced to be awarded each year to the Player of the Year on the Club’s second XI. This was in recognition of Bernard’s stewardship of the Club Seconds over so many years. Sadly Rola passed away in 2006.
