Trim Celtic player Colin Stowe has the opportunity of a lifetime ahead of him the week after next when he flies out to a week’s trail with English Championship club Southampton. Colin played with the NECSL’s successful Kennedy Cup squad in Limerick this year & caught the eye of all who saw his impressive displays for the local league.

Colin played for Ron Metcalfe’s U13 team last season. The team landed a ‘double’ in winning their league & shield competitions.

Everyone at the Club wishes Colin the very best of luck.

U13A’s Crowned Champions

The Club’s U13A’s signed off on their NECSL Division 1 league campaign this morning when they defeated visitors Johnstown at Tully Park in a game played out in near perfect conditions. He also acknowledged the work of the Club’s various officials who contributed to the success of the team on the field this year. This was followed by a few words by team captain Stowe.

Schoolboys Results

Another day of mixed fortunes for the Club as the Schoolboy season gets right down to the business end in the NECSL. Out of six game played Celtic ended up with three wins, a draw & two defeats but the Club has two more league titles to celebrate in addition to the U13A title won two weeks ago.

The U14′s defeated visitors Kentstown at Tully Park by a score of 3-2 in the NECSL Premier Shield semi final. Celtic took a first half lead through Mark Little but the visitors struck back with two goals early in the second half & it took a Robert Sweeney converted penalty (pictured) to bring the game to extra time. Sweeney went on to score the only goal in extra time to enable Celtic to advance to the final. The score after normal time counted as a league result with each club taking a point. Kentstown can now win the league with one more win in their remaining games. Little consolation to Celtic however who have twice beaten Kentstown this season but congratulations nonetheless to Kentstown. Click here for more pictures. Read rest of story…

Wednesday’s Schoolboy Results

Three more games played tonight & glad to report three more wins for Club sides.

The U16′s travelled to Drogheda & beat local side Grove Rangers by the only goal of the game in this Premier Shield semi final. Jamie Lee (pictured) was the marksman.

Also in the Premier Shield, the U13A’s beat Kingscourt at the MDL in their home semi final. Jack Johnston hit both goals in a 2-0 victory. The game was played at the MDL grounds because of an error in the NECSL league office that resulted in fixture clashes in Tully Park.

The U14′s hit five without reply in the Challenge Cup quarter final away to Torro Utd. The scorers were Mark Little (2), Donal Callan, Rian Wogan & Sam Millen. Next up in the semi final is Athboy Celtic at Tully Park.
