They entered the final unbeaten but unfortunately lost out to Slane. The “B” side had 3 great victories in there group but were beaten by Arklow in the last group game. They were only denied a place in the last 8 by goal difference. It was a long but worthwile day…and all for a good cause. Pictured below are the “Malth House A” finalists.

An other successful 5K Walk for the Sevens section

The Boys and Girls from the Sevens section of the club completed their annual 5K walk around the town on Sunday 15th November. The weather held up for the walk, which was completed in autumn sunshine. There was a large contingent of players representing the fun club, Seven-a-side squads and three all girls teams. They enjoyed terrific support from their parents, and families who participated in the walk. The club managers were supported by the local civil defense and garda to ensure the safety of all concerned on the walk.

The children had been busy collecting sponsorship for the club over the previous four weeks. As always the people of Trim gave generously to the children and the club. The sevens section of the club has members from ages 5 to 7 years (Fun club), 8 to 10 years (Seven-a-side soccer) and all girls teams from 8 to 15 years old. They play a winter league, starting in October through to April.

I would like to thank the organizers of the walk who made it a very enjoyable event, and provided us with some badly needed autumn physical exercise.

Darndale Rovers 2 Trim Celtic 1

Trim Celtic traveled to Dublin to take on one of the top AUL Dublin sides Darndale Rovers. How Trim did not come away with a win is the question everybody is asking. Trim dominated the entire match and still went down 2-1. In the first half Trim had 4 clear cut goal opportunities but failed to take any of them. After 20 mins of superb football by both sides a great ball by Derek Donoghue was controlled superbly by David Conway who blasted wide from 6 yards out. Keith Peppard was then played through by Derek Donoghue only to see his effort fly past the post. On the 30 min mark disaster struck for Trim. Barry O’Callaghan in the Trim goal who had been a spectator up to this point had a simply back pass to clear but lost his footing and the ball was put into the empty net by the Darndale center forward. Trim did not drop and continued to press forward until half time. The second half was all one way traffic. Corrigan, Newman and Campbell were outstanding in the middle for Trim and set up attack after attack. Campbell’s 2 great strikes from 25 yards were dealt with well by the Darndale keeper. The Darndale Keeper then made 3 outstanding saves in the second half to deny Donoghue, twice and Conway. Trim reverted to 3 at the back in an attempt to get back into the game and with 10 mins remaining Darndale got a second form a quick breakaway. Trim were thrown a life line when Paul Campbells header flew into the net but it was to late from Trim Celtic. Darndale’s keeper was presented with the man of the match award.

Barry O’Callaghan, Richie Fitzsimons, Mark Gillsenan, Cyril Halton, Keith Jones, Aaron Newman, Michael Corrigan, Paul Campbell, David Conway, Derek Donoghue, Keith Peppard. Subs: Stephen Farrell for Keith Peppard, Damien McGhee for Cyril Halton,Ross Campbell for Aaron Campbell, Dominic Martin.

Schoolboy Results 31st Oct/Halloween

The weekend when the SFAI cup took centre stage, at the start of the weekend we had four teams still in the competition however by Saturday evening it was down to three…

The U12A team played Rivervalley Rangers of the NDSL and played magnificently to win out 5-0 with goals from James Mc Keown (2), Luke Doyle, Eoghan Daly, Cathal Bermingham. Our U12B team were due to play Walshestown of the Dundalk League but they were unable to play so Trim will go into the hat for the next round.

Ron Metcalfe’s U15 team played their cup game in the MDL against local NECSL team Johnstown and thanks to a Aaron Winter’s hat trick were convincing 3-0 winners

The final game of the weekend was fitting in the weekend of halloween with Brian Floods U15 coming out on the wrong end of a seven goal “thriller” with the final score 4-3 against a very strong Monaghan Utd side..
