Remaining Games for Seniors

The Club’s Seniors have four games still to play in the Premier Division of the MDL but depending on results they may have only to play two of them.

These games are necessary to decide the first four places in the Premier Division in order to identify the qualifying teams for the Top Four Competition at the start of next season - a trophy currently held by Celtic.

Next Thursday evening they take on Duleek in Tully Park & on Sunday 18th May they travel to Carricmacross to take on the local Carrick Rovers. The remaining games are against Albion Rovers at home & Glaslough away.

MDL Premier Reserve Trophy Presentation

This afternoon at Tully Park the Club Reserves enjoyed their last outing of the season at home to Ardee Celtic in a league game that was of no real significance to either side. Celtic, who were declared champions last Monday night following results elsewhere, won the game 5-1 thanks to goals by Michael Tyndall (penalty), Matthew Scanlon, Danny Quinn, Gordon Flood & Alan McCormack.

MDL Premier Reserve Division Champions

Premier Reserve League Champions

With one game still to play the Club’s Reserve Team this evening became the 2007/8 MDL Premier Reserve Division champions when the news came through that Glenmuir had failed to defeat Duleek at the Tollstone in their last game of the season. What a climax to the season this is for Luke Dempsey’s team, trailing so far behind the pace setters for so long, to put in a finishing burst over the last six weeks to secure the title!

Tight at the top…

With one game remaining the MDL Premier Reserve league table looks like this…
Premier Reserve
With Duleek playing Glenmuir this evening, a draw or a win for Duleek will give Celtic the title. A win for Glenmuir will mean that it’ll go right down to the final game of the season, when Celtic will take on Ardee at Tully Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

League Title in Sight for Reserves

The Club’s Reserves under the management of Luke Dempsey turned in one of the ir best performances of the season this afternoon at Tully Park when they soundly defeated visitors & title rivals Rock Celtic hitting four goals without reply.

Michael Tyndall, Matthew Scanlon, Danny Quinn & Richie Fitzsimons all hit the net in an impressive outing. The result means that Celtic are now in sight of the Premier Reserve title, something that was not generally considerd possible after they lost their first three games of the season & indeed up a few weeks ago.

Mark Scanlon, Gavin Meehan & Andy Reilly also caught the eye.

Seniors Hit Slane for Four

The Club Seniors turned in a five star performance this evening at Tully Park to comprehensively defeat visitors Slane Wanderers 4-0 in the Premier Division of the MDL, thanks to one of the team’s best performances of the season.

Noel Payne twice found the net direct from free kicks (picture shows his first one) & the other goals were scored by Seamie Harte & Keith Jones. This was a fine all round display with eye catching performances from Cyril Halton whose positioning was impeccable throughout, Colm Harte in goal & David Conway who played a classic ‘target man’ game from start to finish. David Campbell at right full & the midfield pairing of Keith Jones & Michael Corrigan were in fine form.

Reserves Still on Track

The dream of winning the MDL Premier Reserve title is still alive for the Club tonight after Luke Dempsey’s team scored a 2-0 victory over Marsh Celtic in Drogheda this evening to secure three more vital league points. In a tough encounter Celtic had to  draw on all of their ‘reserves’ to win the game with two goals in the last twenty minutes. Michael Tyndall was the hit-man for both goals. Centre back Andy Reilly & Richie Fitzsimons both impressed this evening as did Gavin Meehan in midfield.

As a result of this win, the league title could go to any one of three teams. Celtic (37 points) have yet to play Rock Celtic at home & Ardee Celtcic away. Two wins & the title come home to Tully Park! Rock Celtic (37 points) need to win their last game against Trim but that would not guarantee the tile. Glenmuir (38 points) have one game to play away to Duleek.

The drama will all unfold in the next ten days!

Seniors Lose to Glenmuir

A much weakened Club Senior side lost 1-4 away to Glenmuir in the Premier Division of the MDL yesterday despite a spirited performanceall round. Mark Corrigan was one of a number of Reserve Team players on duty & he was rewarded with is first goal for the Seniors. Supporters of the Club must be worried about the current unavailability of a number of players who have turned out regularly for the Seniors all season.

Reserves Still on Target

The Club Reserve Team won another three points in the MDL Premier Reserve Division when they defeated visitors Carrick Rovers 2-1 in Tully Park this afternoon much to the delight of manager Luke Dempsey (pictured).

The scorers for Celtic were Alan McCormack & Gordon Flood. Four games to go to bring the league title to Trim & what a send off that would be for one of the Club’s most loyal members over the last twenty five years as he prepares to relocate abroad.

Not bad for a team that lost its first three league outings of the season!
