This weekend all three of our Senior teams scored three goals each. The Seniors won their first league match of the season at home to Glaslough by 3 goals to nil with Paul Campbell and Paul Gilsenan on target with the first goal coming from an OG. Unfortunately both the Reserves and Third teams conceded three goals each ending up drawing their games 3-3. Playing Square away goals came courtesy of another OG, Patrick Peppard and Richard Fitzsimons for the Reserves who led 2-0 at one stage. The Thirds played Oldcastle at Tully Park and were 3 nil up with Dimmy Higgins, Adam Whelan and Thomas Noone finding the net before being pegged. Michael Lydon also saved a penalty during the match.

As a result of the dreadful weather recently, the Meath & District League postponed the entire programme of games scheduled for this coming week, including the Club’s Premier Division opener against Square United at Tully Park this afternoon. The same programme of games has been moved back one week when it is hoped that improved weather conditions will see a return to football in the MDL.

Despite quite a good showing by the Club Seniors last night against Ardee Celtic at the MDL Grounds, they failed to reach the decider in the Tailteann Cup after a 1-1 draw with the Louth side. Instead Ardee go on to play host side Parkvilla in the final.
Aaron Newman (pictured) was on target for Celtic who again fielded with a much disrupted team for a variety of reasons. Paul Campbell was suspended & David Conway was unfit to line out as a result of his hamstring injury.
Mark Scanlon took charge on the night in the absence of Tony O’Sullivan & Martin Kerr neither of whom could not make the game.

The Club’s Senior Team Manager Tony O’Sullivan is faced with the possibility of Player of the Year David Conway missing the start of the new season as a result of a hamstring injury that he picked up last Monday afternoon very early in the Tailteann Cup game against Parkvilla.
David suffered the injury after only a few minutes & must now be doubtful for the big kick off next Sunday week.
