Schoolboy Results 6th/7th Feb 2010

A real mixed weekend for our Schoolboys teams…

We had three games in Tully Pk this Saturday with the U13 D2 team playing first and despite a long lay off came out on top against Parkvilla on a scoreline of 2-1…

Next up where the U15 D2’s who were depleted with illness and a school trip, it was a bad time to come up against a strong Delvin side. The match finished 4-1 to Delvin

The final game on Saturday pitted Ron Metcalfe’s U15′S  against St Malachy’s of the DDSL Premier League in the last 36 of the Sfai Cup. In a incident packed game St Malachy’s keeper dislocated his shoulder soon after the kick off, shortly after this Trim took the lead. Trim were leading 2-1 with seconds to go in the game when St Malachy’s equalised and brought the game into extra time which they they took full advantage of and finished 4-2…St Malachy’s keeper is doing ok and is home after getting his shoulder fixed up in Navan Hospital

The U14 D1 team kept up their recent run of good form with a 3-0 win over Athboy Celtic in the MDL

Martin Davidson’s U14 team travelled to Torro with a heavily depleted team in a match which finished 7-2 to Torro

The U12 D3’s where involved in the HSE Cup against Delvin Celtic who where too strong, the result was 6-4 to Delvin

SFAI CUP ACTION

A great weekend for the Schoolboys as we now have two team’s going forward to the last 36 of the SFAI cup…

First up in Tully Pk on Saturday morning was John Sweeney’s U12’s playing against Kentstown, Trim overcame the hurdle of conceding an early goal to win in impressive style 3-1 with goals from Luke Doyle (2) and James Mc Keown. This was display that was full of commitment and a lot of skill from all the team…They now face Devon Salthill (Galway) in a home fixture which is scheduled for next weekend

Ron Metcalfe’s U15’s were up next in Tully Pk and turned in an equally impressive display against highly fancied Castleknock from the DDSL.

The U15′S were always in control and finished the game with 3-0 scoreline

Next up for the lads are St Malachy’s, also from the DDSL next weekend also at home…

Schoolboy Results 12th Dec 2009

U12 NECSL Division 1

Trim Celtic 1
Kingscourt 1

Trim Celtic Scorer  Eoin Sweeney

In this exiting and entertaining Under 12 match at Kingscourt’s fabulous all-weather facility the teams shared the points. Without a competitive match for five weeks it took the Trim lads some time to get to the pace of the match. Both teams came close to converting in the first half but with some superb defensive play from Adam Chesser and goalkeeper Lateef Yussuf for Trim the game remained scoreless at the break. Trim were unlucky not to go one up in the early stages of the second half when Eoin Sweeney showed great skill and pace to skip past the Kingscourt defence before crossing in to the six yard box only to see it put behind for a corner. However it was Kingscourt who got on the score sheet first when a mix-up in the Trim defence allowed the Kingscourt striker to nip in and finish to an empty net. Trim continued to push forward and were almost rewarded when James McKeown went on a run from the left showing strength and determination to get past the defence only for his shot to go into the side netting from an acute angle. The pressure eventually paid off when a cross from McKeown found Eoin Sweeney on the edge of the box and Sweeney made no mistake sliding the ball past the advancing keeper. Both teams contributed to and exiting final fifteen minutes with end to end football creating numerous chances with Dean Egan almost grabbing the winner for Trim in the final minutes when McKeown sent a perfect ball into his path on the six yard line only for Egan’s shot to end up in the keepers hands. Best for Trim on the day were goalkeeper Lateef Yussuf with Adam Chesser dominating at the back and James McKeown and Eoin Sweeney excellent up front.

U14 NECSL Division 2

Trim Celtic 0
Johnstown 2

A disappointing  performance from Trim who never really got going.  A long time without a game seemed to show and Trim were slow to get going, some early possession by Johnstown had Trim under pressure and kept putting on the pressure as half time loomed .All credit to Trim as they stuck at it and came in at half time 0-0.

A slow start to the second half by Trim saw them letting in 2 goals in the first 10 minutes. As the game went on Trim came into it more and started to pass the ball better,  pushing forward they started to dominate possession but just could not find the final pass to create an opening.

The game finished with a 2-0 loss and some harsh lesson’s were learnt by a good Trim team

U11 NECSL Division 1

Trim Celtic 3
Johnstown 0

Trim Celtic Scorers. Mickey Cullen (2) Jack Walsh 1

Trim Celtic put in their best performance of the season and were rewarded with a comfortable win, even though a small injury to keeper Paddy Maloney resulted in him having to come off at half time. Jack Walsh scored his goal for the club shortly after entering the field of play, the win was secured when Mickey Cullen scored two well taken goals to add to his impressive tally for the season. Adam Sheehan and Ruairi Shortt were outstanding throughout the game

U12 NECSL Division 3

Trim Celtic 2
Parkvilla 6

U11 NECSL DIVISION 2

Trim Celtic 2
Raistin Rovers 2

These are the final fixtures/results before Christmas… Trim Celtic would like to wish all its Players/Mangers/Assistants and most of all the parents who continue to give their support a very Happy Christmas
