The club is deeply saddened to have learned of the untimely passing of our player Zak McGowan yesterday.
A club member since Under 8s Zak distinguished himself as a schoolboy player with Trim Celtic and was selected at various age levels for the NECSL representative team where he competed in both the Wexford Challenge Trophy and the Galway Cup among other tournaments.
As a Senior player Zak broke into the First Team at an early age and was an invaluable member of Paddy O’Reilly’s Challenge Cup winning squad. Off the field Zak was equally accomplished and this was acknowledged in 2013 when he was awarded the John O’Toole Perpetual Cup for commitment and dedication to the club.
An excellent player and individual, he will be greatly missed.
We would like to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to Zak’s family, our thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.
Rest in Peace Zak.
