NECSL 14 Cup Final
Trim Celtic 1-0 Parkvilla
Trim Celtic secured the u14 NECSL Cup with a determined 1-0 win against Parkvilla. Trim dominated exchanges in the first half overall with Shane Bell, James Foley and Noah Lacey O’Dea a constant threat. Max McGowan, Sam Kennedy Jack Conneely and Charlie Molloy worked tirelessly for a breakthrough. Parkvilla had a breakaway chance towards the end of the half but Victor Barbu pulled off an amazing tackle to avert the danger, his partnership with Nico Fragoyiannis and Tadhg Carty were dealing with all that came their way. Trim picked up a number of yellow cards which were a concern in a physical encounter.
A similar pattern emerged in the second half with Trim continuing to lay siege on Parkvilla’s goal, who were dangerous on the break but rarely threatening Diarmuid Doyle’s goal. Adrian Karbownik added a different dimension up front and Dylan Coyle and Finn Maher entering the fray. With ten minutes to go Adrian Karbownik made the breakthrough with a brilliant goal, in the process he hurt his wrist and unfortunately could not continue. The drama wasn’t finished with Jack Conneely picking up harsh second yellow card and heartbroken had to leave the pitch. Trim down to 10 showed their spirit with Ronan McGinley and Mark Brennan seeing the side home in a tense finish.
A league and Cup double in the bag, Trim’s attention now turns to remaining Shield and SFAI Cup games. Thoughts are with goalscoring hero Adrian Karbownik wishing him a speedy recovery from a fractured wrist.
