As you will be aware with the advent of summer football at underage level Trim Celtic now operates on a continuous basis all year round. This summer has seen, as always, a huge amount of hard work being put in by players, managers and parents. I am hopeful that we will see the benefits of this hard work as we near the seasons end for our some of our teams. Alongside this the season is just beginning for our mens teams. All our players, at all levels, benefit from good support so please keep a look out for all fixtures on our various outlets and please come along to matches, if you can, and let all our players know how much their efforts are appreciated all year round.
During this summer we were delighted to finally return to our home at Tully Park on the Summerhill Road. The works carried out there have added to what was an already superb venue for our Club and those who visit us for matches. The two pitches in Tully Park are both excellent and of equal status in terms of playing surfaces. We also have four new dugouts built for substitutes and for this I want to thank those who helped Trim Celtic by providing sponsorship toward the building costs;

Rentokil-Initial (thanks to Peter Mc Sherry) Tel;1890 666 444
Smart Part Motor Factors Trim Tel; 046 9431000
Donie Quinn Cabs Tel; 046 9436009
Please remember these and indeed all our sponsors when you shop or do business in the area.
The new fencing around both pitches certainly adds to the facility and you will see local businesses have already placed signs around the fencing. If you or someone you know is interested in placing a sign in Tully Park please contact any committee member.
Over recent years many Trim Celtic people deserve credit for the development of our grounds and dressing rooms. Obviously many people deserve acknowledgement and thanks for the physical work carried out. It’s worth remembering also that significant background works were done to ensure these projects were completed successfully and to such a high standard. People like John Kelly, Derek O Connor, Luke Dempsey and Des Fitzgerald deserve great credit for their vital work behind the scenes.
Both Luke and Des have taken a well-deserved break from Committee work for a while and I just want to take this opportunity to thank them both for their outstanding contributions to the development of the Club in so many ways. Whilst they have taken a break they were both keen to say that they are available to help out if required. This commitment to Trim Celtic is typical of both Luke and Des who are now and always will be outstanding Trim Celtic clubmen. On behalf of everyone in the Club I want to say thanks to you both.
Earlier this year we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Clubs founding and whilst this event was a particular highlight it is not the only way we will celebrate this achievement. For example we intend to arrange our annual end of season awards for the younger members of our Club in a slightly different way this year to mark our 50th Anniversary with our younger Club members. Watch this space for more news on that and other events as the season reaches its climax.
During the summer another significant event for the Club occurred when the FAI presented our Club President and Founder Member Christy Ginnerty with a Service to Football Award.
Already having attained legendary status within our Club, Christy has now received National recognition. Despite being singled out for his outstanding contribution Christy was quick to recognise those who worked with him in founding and keeping the Club going in what were often difficult times.
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Christy, his wife Margaret and his family on this award. I also want to thank him for all he has done and continues to do for our Club. In gaining this recognition Christy has, as always, brought great credit to Trim Celtic AFC.
If you see Christy at a match or elsewhere feel free to congratulate him. I know he will be delighted but his modesty will prevent him from glorying too much in this well-deserved award.
Finally don’t forget to keep an eye on our website, facebook and twitter profiles for updates on matches and other events.
