In this week’s 50th Anniversary post we are looking back at some old kits and they are not what you would expect! We are obviously famous for our Green & White Hoops in fact former Celtic legend Neil Lennon has gone on record as saying we are the 2nd best team to wear them, however through the years especially in the early schoolboy days some “alternative” colours were worn. At the time of writing we are not sure where one of these kits came from so if anyone does know please get in touch. There can’t be many players left in the club who had the pleasure of wearing the Argentina kit and remembering being extremely jealous of whoever got to wear the coveted number 10 shirt. Probably the most intriguing strip is the red strip which is almost identical to the Wales kit from the 1976-79 period! Having worn these kits its fair to say that the best description of them would be itchy!
2017 represents the 50th Anniversary of Trim Celtic AFC and this occasion will be celebrated with an event in Trim Castle Hotel on Sunday 30th April (May Bank Holiday Weekend).
Tickets are €25 including a meal. It would be great to see some of our former and current members at the event so please spread the word.
