Oriel Park, Dundalk
NECSL Under 14 Girls
Dundalk 2-2 Trim Celtic
Halftime: 1-2
Trim Celtic scorer: Kate Forde 2
Trim Celtic Under 14 Girls made the long trip to Oriel Park (Dundalk) for the latest fixture in the NECSL Girls Under 14 league. Abigail Douglas Wilkinson returned at left-back and was assured in her defending throughout. Dundalk wasted no time in getting going, scoring with a swift counter-attack after just 5 minutes. Trim had to work hard to carve out their chances, and on 15 minutes Kate Forde got on the end of a great pass from Sophie O’Connor, and blasted her finish to the net. In central defence Juliann Murtagh and Esha Hughes provided sound protection from the Dundalk forward line. On the half hour, another great corner kick from Sophie O’Connor was not dealt with and Kate Forde helped herself to a second from close-range. In the second half Dundalk again started quickly and equalised on 5 minutes to resume parity. Trim Celtic enjoyed long spells of possession, and good passing throughout the midfield quartet of Andrea Hiney, Hanna Boggins, Leah Dennehy and Sophie O’Connor. A point well-earned.
