Trim Celtic 2-0 Boca Rovers
Halftime: 0-0
Trim Celtic scorers: O.G. (59), Aaron Ryan (77)
In windy conditions at Tully Park Trim Celtic eked out a victory over bottom side Boca Rovers. Mark Leavy hit the post after 13 minutes but it was Barry O’Callaghan who was the busier of the keepers for most of the half as he dealt with some awkwardly dipping long range shots from the visitors. Darragh Scannell should have opened the scoring midway through the half but his close range header came back off the bat. Celtic had a flurry of chances approaching halftime but Donohoe and Scannnell both shot left and wide.
In the second half Goggins and Leavy combined down the left well and fashioned a couple of chances with Donohoe having one header cleared off the line and another superbly tipped over by the keeper. and it was from one such move that Celtic took the lead as Goggins surged past the right full before pulling the ball across the box where a Boca defender mis-kicked into his own net. Aaron Ryan doubled Celtic’s lead in the 77th minute when he rounded the last defender and the keeper before slotting home his third league goal of the season. Boca almost pulled a goal back immediately but O’Callaghan made an important save with his feet. Ryan tested the keeper again with a fine shot from the edge of the box but Celtic had done enough to earn the victory
