Trim Celtic were at home for this tie against Duleek for the Celts first league outing of the season.

A nightmare start for Trim who conceded an early goal after just 6 minutes on the clock. A bad defensive error left the Duleek winger on his own at the back post and he made the most of it, hitting a beautiful volley into the back of the trim net.

Trim kicked into action and started to get into the game and created a couple of good scoring chances. On 33 minutes Seamus Harte popped up to challenge the Duleek keeper from a corner and scored what looked like a good goal, but the referee did not see it this way awarding Duleek a free out.

Trim Celtic continued to battle hard but to no avail and at the break it was still Duleek 1 Trim Celtic 0.

In the second period both Teams battled hard and both creating the odd chance or two. Having said that Trim were really on top of Duleek. It had started to look like one of those days when the ball would just not go into the net for Trim. On 62 minutes Sean Fitzgerald rattled the crossbar with a smashing shot from about 25 yards, for the ball to come straight down on the line and be saved by the keeper. At this stage time was running out for the Celts to get level, then on 73 minutes Setphen Morriarty made a great run from the left cutting across and slamming in the equaliser.

This had the effect to really get the Celts working hard to find a winner and on 84 minutes Michael Tyndall converted Trims 2nd. Trim really dominated the game at this stage and then substitute Richie Sheridan sealed Trim’s victory with a great strike from the left hand side just outside the 18 yard box.

A well deserved win for Trim Celtic.
