Trim Celtic turned on the style firing 8 past Division 1 team Navan Town in an immaculate Tully Park in the first round of the Kilmessan Shield. The visitors had no answer to Trim’s free flowing and fast attacking football. A hat trick from Scott McGowan, 2 in the first half and one in the second was the highlight of the day. New signing Colm Smyth scored 2 first half quality goals to cap a fine display. Mick Corrigan and Paul Campbell also chipped in with a goal each. 6-0 up at half time and Trim introduced 3 subs, all of whom played their part in a second half display which saw Trim add 2 more goals, one from Scott McGowan and the 8th from Mark McCormack. All the goal scorers played their part in this win but there were also great displays from Jason Hand, James Goggins and David Conway. There will be a lot tougher matches for Trim Celtic this year and nobody at the club will be taking to much from this win but every result counts and Trim will now play Robinstown to see who progresses to the next round of the Kilmessan Shield.
