The second string came away with the spoils after a topsy turvy game away to Ardee on Saturday. Ardee started the stronger and hit both posts early on, but it was Celtic who took the lead on the half hour when Richie Fitzimons stroked home from five yards from after a scramble in the box.

Ardee finished the stronger and went in at half-time 2-1 ahead following two great strikes late in the half.

Fitzimons had a second goal ruled out harshly on the hour and then saw red in the 70th minute. Celtic dug deep with ten men and were rewarded on 82 minutes when Ronan Hayes met a Snowy Jones knockdown to make it 2-2. With just minutes to go the excellent Dimmy Higgins found Damo McGee in space. MaGee rounded the keeper and stroked home to make it 3-2 and make it three wins on the bounce for the seconds.

Best for Trim Celtic, Dimmy Higgins, Ross Campbell and Ronan Hayes.
