Trim Celtic’s 2nd string made it two wins in a row for the first time this season with a deserved win against Rock Celtic at Tully Pk on Saturday. Celtic dominated the opening half and went close on a number of occasions before a superb through ball from Snowy Jones found Damo McGee, who rounded the keeper and finished for his first goal of the season. Ten minutes later a superb move involving a number of players saw Paul Munnelly make a strong run up the right before finding Ronan Hayes who finished well for his fourth goal in four games.
The rain fell heavily in the second half and balanced the game. Rock found an unlikely way back in to the game when the referee failed to give an obvious offside and Rock got one back. Celtic held firm and had a chances to add to their scoreline when Ross Campbell saw his free kick tipped wide with fifteen minutes to go. Rock continued to press for an unlikely equaliser as the game ticked toward full time but some excellent defending by the back line and a superb display between the sticks by Tony McDonnell kept them at bay.
Best for Celtic, Ronan Hayes, John Kelly and Stephen Jones.
Tony McDonnell, James Hyland, David Campbell, John Kelly, Kenny Patterson, Paul Munnelly, Stephen Jones, Gavin Meehan, Ross Campbell, Ronan Hayes, Damo McGee.
