Woodview came to Tully Park with an impressive unbeaten record and with plenty of goals scored. It took only 5 mins for the first chance to arrive and it took a great save from Tony McDonnell and then a goal line clearance from Cyril Halton to stop the ball crossing the line. Trim then had a great chance to go one up when good work by Tommy Boyle and Mark McCoramck set up the hard working Paul Gilsenan but his header just went over the cross-bar. Trim then gifted Woodview 2 goals. Both were replicas. Long balls into the penalty area and both finished by the head of woodview players. Trim should have been awarded a penalty before the break when a woodview player fell on the ball with his hands inside there penalty area and when Paul Gilsenan nicked the ball from the defender on the ground he was hacked down but to everybody’s surprise the referee waved play on. Trim started the second half brightly and after 15 mins Keith Jones hit an unstoppable left footed volley to make it 1-2. Trim were then denied and even more obvious penalty when Derek Donohoe was foot-blocked with the goal at his mercy but again the referee waved play on. Woodview broke immediately and added a 3rd. Trim fought back and Mark McCormacks superb free kick left just one between the teams however despite Trims dominance in the last 15mins of the game they could not find the equalizer there 2nd half performance deserved.
