2 out of 3 girls teams in action last week-end

The under 12′s and 15′s girls teams were in action in Slane and Kentstown over the week-end. The under 10′s girls game was called off due to frost in Tully Park.

The game was played in brilliant sunshine in Slane on Saturday morning. The girls gave a very strong performance despite several players being out injured. Trim scored first with a well timed strike from Hannagh Mc Keon. Some great gaol keeping from Ciara Hanson keep Trim in the game. A second goal from Niamh Geragherty before half time left Trim in a comfortable position. Slane came back after half time to score, followed quickly after by a goal from Shona White. Sophie Hunt scored from just outside the Slane box. Trim conceded an OG, but went on to see Shona get her hat trick. Clones Town 2 Trim Celtic 4

Trim Celtic made the long journey to Clones Town and came home with the points after a very impressive performance. With conditions not ideal it took a big team effort to grind out this result. Things started well for Trim when Derek Donoghue latched onto a through ball from Paul Campbell and scored after 15mins. David Conway was then put through by Campbell and he rounded the keeper to fire in Trim’s second. Trims defence of Fitzsimons, Halton, Gilsenan and Jones battled for everything. Just before half time Donoghue showed great determination to keep a ball in play and his excellent cross found the head of Conway to put Trim 3-0 up at half time. Clones pulled a goal back before Donoghue pounced on a ball just in side the box to riffle home his 2nd and Trims 4th. With Harte, McCormack, Campbell and Corrigan all battling well for Trim the win was fully deserved. Clones did managed to pull another goal back just before the finish.

Team: Barry O’Callaghan, Richie Fitzsimons, Mark Gillsenan, Cyril Halton, , Keith Jones, Michael Corrigan, Paul Campbell, Colm Harte, Derek Donoghue, David Conway Mark McCormack

Subs:  Diarmuid Higgins for Mark McCormack, Keith Peppard for Colm Harte, Dominic Martin, Johnny Corrigan
