After a slow start by both sides Trim started to get on top. A superb ball by Mark Gillsenan into the box was met by Paul Campbell who just sent his header over form 6 yards out. Then Derek Donohoe controlled the ball brilliantly inside the box only to be denied by a fine save by the Carrick keeper. Barry O’Callaghan saved well for Trim on the half hour mark to keep the game scoreless. Right on the stroke of half time with Trim in full control of the game Carrick struck to put the visitors one up at half time. The second half saw Trim mount attack after attack with Mark McCormack, Patrick Conway and Paul Campbell all going close but Trim just could not find a way through. 2 Penalty appeals were waved away and several attacks blown up for off-side when the Trim player only had the keeper to beat. With the last kick of the game substitute Ross Campbell saw his well hit effort come off the cross-bar. Best on the day for Trim were Keith Jones, Mark McCormack and Mick Corrigan.
