11th January 2009 – MDL Premier Division
Carrick Rovers 1 – 0 Trim Celtic
Halftime: 1 – 0

Trim Celtic can count themselves a little unlucky not to have come away from Monaghan with something from this game. In the first half Paul Gilsenan was foiled by the home keeper who was in top form all afternoon, while Colm Harte shot over in the same attack. Midway through the half Carrick took the lead with a close range volley.
In the second half Gilsenan rounded the keeper only to have his shot blocked by a covering defender. Celtic hit the crossbar twice, with the keeper denying David Conway, Colm Harte and producing a superb save from a Keith Jones drive.

Best for Trim Celtic were Keith Jones, Mark Gilsenan and Mick Corrigan.
