Schoolboy Results 31st Oct/Halloween

The weekend when the SFAI cup took centre stage, at the start of the weekend we had four teams still in the competition however by Saturday evening it was down to three…

The U12A team played Rivervalley Rangers of the NDSL and played magnificently to win out 5-0 with goals from James Mc Keown (2), Luke Doyle, Eoghan Daly, Cathal Bermingham. Our U12B team were due to play Walshestown of the Dundalk League but they were unable to play so Trim will go into the hat for the next round.

Ron Metcalfe’s U15 team played their cup game in the MDL against local NECSL team Johnstown and thanks to a Aaron Winter’s hat trick were convincing 3-0 winners

The final game of the weekend was fitting in the weekend of halloween with Brian Floods U15 coming out on the wrong end of a seven goal “thriller” with the final score 4-3 against a very strong Monaghan Utd side..

Ardee 1 Trim Celtic 2 (senior first team)

Trim Celtic came away with all 3 points in what was, on paper, a tough fixture. Trim were by far the better side and opened up the Ardee defense on several occasions during the first 15mins. Trims relentless pressure finally paid off when a corner from Mark McCormack was met by Richie Fitzsimons with a powerful header. Keith Peppard and Derek Donoghue both had chances to add a second but were denied by good saves by the Ardee keeper. On the half hour mark good work by Mick Corrigan in the center sent Pat Conway down the wing and a clever cut back was met by Derek Donoghue on the half volley which flew into the bottom corner. Ardee had a chance to get one back before half time when they were awarded a penalty but the Ardee player sent his spot kick well over the cross bar. An altercation then took place as Trim defended a corner. Mick Corrigan was wrestled to the ground by an Ardee player and Keith Peppard appeared to be punched as he went to assist Corrigan. The referee decided to send off the Ardee player and also for some reason Keith Peppard and Mark McCormack also saw red. It was astonishing that the altercation was started by Ardee yet Trim had 2 sent off. 2-0 up at half time and Trim continued there domination in the second half with Paul Campbell, Donoghue and Conway all guilty of not adding more goals. Trims fitness was showing and Ardee were outplayed in the middle with an exceptional performance by Mick Corrigan. Donoghue won and held up everything that came to him. Ardee did get one back with 15 mins remaining when a miss hit shot looped over the helpless Barry O’Callaghan. Trims defense were so strong that O’Callaghan in the Trim goal did not have one save to make. A great team performance and a deserved win.

Schoolboy Results 17th/18th Oct 2009

John Sweeneys U12’s had a convincing win in their SFAI Norton Cup second round match against Carrick Rovers winning 10-3.

The two U11 teams were in Kells/Blackwater on Saturday with the A team drawing 1-1 and the B team winning 3-1. The U12B team were unlucky in the Mdl losing to Johnstown 2-1 after hitting the woodwork three times

Our U14A team playing their first league game came away with a credible 1-1 draw against local rival’s Longwood while the b team went one better winning out 4-2 against Torro

Mixed fortunes for the U15 with Ron Metcalfe’s team continuing their impressive run of late with a outstanding win away to Kingscourt on a scoreline of 4-1, the B team had a bad day at office  when they travelled to Virginia FC with a weakened squad losing 6-0

On Sunday the U17’s hosted Carrick Rovers at Tully Pk and in a game they should have won came away from an entertaining game with a 3-3 draw,

Well done to all teams involved at the weekend
