This Sundays fixture away to Glenmuir will now kick off at 2.30

After a slow start by both sides Trim started to get on top. A superb ball by Mark Gillsenan into the box was met by Paul Campbell who just sent his header over form 6 yards out. Then Derek Donoghue controlled the ball brilliantly inside the box only to be denied by a fine save by the Carrick keeper. Barry O’Callaghan saved well for Trim on the half hour mark to keep the game scoreless. Right on the stroke of half time with Trim in full control of the game Carrick struck to put the visitors one up at half time. The second half saw Trim mount attack after attack with Mark McCormack, Pat Conway and Paul Campbell all going close but Trim just could not find a way through. 2 Penalty appeals were waved away and several attacks blown up for off-side when the Trim player only had the keeper to beat. With the last kick of the game substitute Ross Campbell saw his well hit effort come off the cross-bar. Best on the day for Trim were Keith Jones, Mark McCormack and Mick Corrigan.

Trim celtic started brightly and took the lead after ten minutes with a great individual goal from the impressive Derek Donoghue. Albion got themselves back into the game five minutes later with an equaliser following a scramble in the celtic six yard box. Donoghue got his and celtics second shortly after finishing well from a celtic corner. Celtic lost Pat Conway through injury shortly before half time but thankfully with a strong bench available Paul Campbell was able to fill in comfortabily. Five minutes before half time Donoghue found himself in space on the edge of the box, unleashed a powerful shot which the keeper couldn’t handle to complete a first half hat-trick.

Celtic continued their dominance in the second half with Keith Peppard adding two very well finished goals to leave celtic 5 -1 up with half an hour to play. Albion pulled back a consolation goal with five minutes to go from a free kick. Celtic could have added more goals with chances falling to Mark McCormack and Danny Quinn. Best for Trim on the day were Derek Donaghue, Michael Corrigan, Dominic Martin but all in all this was an impressive team proformance in which Trim dominated all areas of the pitch. Albion, who were forced to field a very young side because of 5 first team regulars being unavailable, will not have enjoyed there trip home.
