NECSL Foyle Cup Squad Announced

This past weekend, the Foyle Cup squad was announced and no less than 5 of the Trim Celtic squad were selected to represent the NECSL at the upcoming Foyle Cup in Derry in July. Our congratulations go to Robert Sweeney, Rian Wogan, Fionn Nally, Donal Callan and Lee Dixon who between them make up one quarter of the overall squad.

The Foyle Cup is a very prestigious tournament played every July across several age groups. With over 110 teams entered last year across all age groups and with many international clubs entering academy teams, this is a great opportunity for the lads to test themselves at the highest levels. The NECSL traditionally enters a team picked from the many U15 squads in the league. Our best wishes go the lads in the run-up to the competition.

Representatives from five teams (Bears U8, Swifts U8, Rubys U9, Diamonds U11, and Pearls U13) were invited to play at half time in a pre-season match between Bohs and Shels on Friday 27th February. There were over 40 players representing Trim Celtic from eight up to 13 year old boys and girls. They gave a great demonstration of their football skills at half time, with the full backing and support from the large group of fans at the game.

Thanks to Dan Fox (Swifts) for organising the outing, the managers of each of the teams, Jim Short (Bears), Louise Hayes (Rubys), Pat Hanson (Diamonds), and Brian Troy (Pearls) for preparing the players for their debut at Dalymount Park.

Special thanks to Terry Morris (Gladiators) who ensured that all players and supporters arrived safely, as he negotiated the streets of Dublin with the bus.
