Despite a magnificent display by a much weakened side the Club Ladies lost this evening for the first time this season when they went down by the only goal of the game away to league leaders St. Mochta’s in Division 3 North of the Dublin Women’s Soccer League.

From start to finish this was a very entertaining game with fine performances right across the pitch from every player. Manager Karen Halpenny expressed herself very satisfied after the game despite dropping three valuable points in the chase for league honours.

Keeper Susan Clancy (pictured here playing last week against O’Devaney at Tully Park) was outstanding & captain Sabrina Gibney lead by example with another fine outing as did Alson Feeley in midfield. Grainne McManamon, Aoife Gorman & Claire McLoughlin all belied their inexperience with impressive contributions.

The only goal of the game was a proverbial ‘fluke’ & it came ten minutes after the break when a cross was deflected behind keeper Clancy & converted from a yard out by an opposition forward.

This was A game that Celtic did not deserve to lose & the mood afterwards was one of satisfaction. The entire squad looks forward with confidence to the home fixture against St. Mochta’s.

On Wednesday of next week the Ladies play Sheriff YC at Tully Park in a re-fixed league game.
