The Club’s annual Presentation Function for the Seniors & Ladies was held last Friday night in the Castle Arch Hotel & the highlight of the evening was the announcement that David Conway had been selected to receive the Brody Cup for Senior Player of the Year thus becoming the sixth player to have his name engraved on the cup twice. ‘David enjoyed another outstanding season with the Club & fully deserved the award’ according to his manager Damien Dempsey. He is pictured here receiving the trophy. Also in the picture (left to right) is Des FitzGerald, Nick Nally & Christy Ginnerty one of the Club’s Vice Presidents.
The Ladies Player of the Year was Sabrina Gibney & she became the first recipient of the new Bradley Cup, which was donated by Club Chairman Robert Bradley. Karen Ball made presentations on behalf of the Ladies section of the Club to Robert Bradely who stepped down as team manager last year & to Des Clancy.
The Barry Cup for Reserve Team Player of the Year went to Anthony Craig who was selected by manager Luke Dempsey. Luke was unable to be present on the night. The cup was presented by Marty O’Flatharta, daughter of the late Bernard Barry, a founder member of the Club back in 1967.
Clubman of the Year went to Des FitzGerald for his all round voluntary effort throughout a long season for which Club Secretary Des Clancy paid generous tribute to him.
Awards were made to both the Ladies & the Seniors leading scorers – Michael Tyndall hit 19 for the Reserve Team but Christine Watters bettered that by one for the Ladies.
The late Bernard Barry was inducted into the Club’s Hall of Fame.
