The Club’s U17’s finished their season tonight at the MDL Grounds when the went down 0-2 to Albion Rovers from Co. Louth in the final of the NECSL Challenge Cup.

The game was played in magnificent conditions & there was plenty of end to end footbal from start to finish but Celtic paid for a rather subdued first half. That said it took until the 44th minute for Albion to take the lead.

Michael Loughlin’s boys were the better of the two sides after the break & created a number of excellent chances but failed to find the net. Inevitably Albion struck for the decisive goal with fifteen minutes left & although Trim continued to press they could not get the score they deserved.

Michael Lydon, Patrick Scanlon, Rory McEntee & Eunan McGrenra all caught the eye on the night.

On Sunday they warmed up with a home Division 1 league outing against league title favourites Ballyjamesduff & defeated them 5-4 thanks to goals by Donal Loughlin (4) & Rory McEntee. That result effectively won the league for Enfield Celtic.

Congratulations to Michael, his assistant Paddy Kennedy & all the boys on a fine season despite tonight’s defeat
