Although they were eliminated from both their NECSL Shield & Cup competitions in the last ten days, Celtic’s U12’s brought their season to most successful close this evening at Tully Park when they defeated visitors Parkvilla 4-2 in their last league game of the season after which the U12 League Champions trophy was presented. NECSL official Niall Byrne presented the trophy to team captain Sean Coloe who then said a few words by way of appreciiation on behalf of all of the players to the management team of John Sweeney & Mark Farrell.

The scorers in tonight’s game were Jack Byrne who hit a brace to level the scores after Parkvilla took a 2-0 lead & Stephen Moroney who also hit a pair to secure the win.

Since last September the team has played twenty three games, winning seventeen, drawing two & losing just four. They were eliminated from the SFAI Cup & the two domestic knock-out competitions – NECSL Shield & Cup, after taking 2-0 leads on all three occasions! They lost just one league game. All in all a magnificant record & congratulations are due to every one of the players & the management team. They now face into a well earned rest for the summer.
