Not such a good night on the field last night for Celtic – one win & two defeats.
The U13B’s defeated Agher Park 2-0 in the semi final of the NECSL Major Shield thanks to goals from Anthony Peppard & Dean Courtney. The game was played at the MDL because of an error on the part of the NECSL who fixed the U12’s at home in Tully Park the same time. They now have two games left this season. A win or a draw tomorrow morning against MV Bhoys will land the league title & after that the final of the shield beckons for Brian Flood’s boys.
John Sweeney’s U12’s suffered a rare defeat albeit on penalties , in the semi final of the Premier Shield at the hands of Johnstown. The game finished 2-2 after extra time Neil Sweeney & Kevin McKeown got the goals bu the Celts went down 7-6 on penalties in the resulting shoot out. Sean Coloe & Ryan Moore impressed throughout. TheU12’s play the quarter final of the cup tomorrow away to Athboy.
The U11A’s suffered a 1-2 reverse in their second last league game against a surprisingly strong Athboy side that they had beaten 10-1 earlier in the season in the league. James Cullen was the marksman for Celtic in this their first domestic defeat since the season started last August. This result means that they must win their last game against MV Bhoys to land the league title. Tomorrow the U11A’s travel to Carrickmacross to play the semi final of the cup against Carrick Rovers. They won 3-1 at the same venue in the shield recently.
