Celtic’s Schoolboy teams played seven games today & recorded five wins, one draw & a defeat on a beautifal Spring day, pefect for football. All games played were league games.
The U13A’s defeated Baileboro Utd. by a score of 7-1 at Tully Park but not before the visitors took an early first half lead. However it did not take Ron Metcalfe’s boys to get on top & they ran out comfotable 7-1 winners in this sporting Division 1 encounter. Jack Reilly was the star man on the day hitting four goals; Ciaran O’Rourke struck twice & Conor Henebery also found the net. Aaron Winters also caught the eye in a fine all round performance. Not to be outdone the U13Bs also won to maintain their Division 2 title challenge. They defeated Navan Town in Navan by a score of 5-1. On target were Anthony Peppard with two, Alan O’Halloran, Fergus Muylryan & Glann Forde.
The 11As travelled to Carrickmacross & came home with all three Division 1 points after a fine 4-2 victory over the local Carrick Rovers boys. Ciaran Harte, James Cullen, Peter Gavin & Pierre Fox all found the net to maintain their top of the table position for Gerry Harte’s team.
Unfortunaltely the U11Bs went down 0-3 in their Division 2 game against Trim Town which was played on the Longwood Road.
John Marron & Jim Hyland took the U15s to Kell in Division 1 & they came away with a point thanks to a very late equaliser by Conor Smith in a two goal game. They continue to fight hard every week for Division 1 survival & hopes are high after this impressive result that they will land their first league win very soon.
The U14s accounted for Enfield Celtic in Enfield by a score of 6-0. As the scoreline suggest this was an easy game during which they were seldom put under any pressure. Donal Callan (2), Mark Little, Robert Sweeney, Karl Reilly & Lee Dixon were the marksmen as Nick Nally’s side endeavours to retain its champions’ crown.
Also in Enfield this morning were the U12s & they too enjoyed a comfortable win when they hit five goals without reply. Ferghal O’Hare, Stephen Moroney & Adrian Maguire all hit braces.
The U16s were not fixed for a game to day. The U17s likewise have no game tomorrow.
