Seniors Frozen Out

The scheduled Challenge Cup tie between the Seniors and OMP Utd was postponed when the referee deemed the St Mary’s Park pitch unplayable due to frost. The hosts made every effort to have the match played but by kickoff time the pitch had not thawed enough and the referee made the decision that it was too dangerous to be played on. This is the third postponement of the match which has already been postponed twice at Tully Park due to bad weather.

Square Utd 0 – 0 Trim Celtic

Trim Celtic were unlucky not to come away with their second win of the season after having a goal disallowed in each half. Celtic withstood some early Square pressure and thought they had taken the lead when Paul Campbell’s freekick found the back of the net, however the referee ordered a retake after spotting some pushing in the wall. The retake almost went in off a defender.

In the second half Trim Celtic made most of the running and were denied another goal when Alan Douglas was adjudged offside after volleying home. Best for Trim Celtic were Keith Jones, Mark Gilsenan and Aaron Newman.

Trim Celtic: Niall Murray, Ciaran Rispin, Keith Jones, David Conway, Mark Gilsenan, Aaron Newman, Colm Harte, Paul Campbell, Paul Gilsenan, Alan Douglas, Ross Campbell.
Subs: Dominic Martin, Danny Quinn
