U11A’s Through to Shield Final

In the only game played this evening the Club’s U11A’s defeated Kells/Blackwater on penalties after extra time to advance to the final of the NECSL Premier Shield. The scores were locked 1-1 after extra time & keeper Peter Gavin was the hero in saving one of the opposition spot kicks & in then scoring what proved to be the winner himself. James Cullen was on target during regular time.

This result means that Gerry Harte’s team are still in line to win a treble of trophies in their first year at eleven-a-side. They meet MV Bhoys from Cavan in a ‘winner takes all’ last league game of the season next Monday  night at Tully Park & they meet the same opposition in the final of the Challenge Cup on Saturday afternoon at the MDL. And it could be MV Bhoys again in the Shield final if they overcome Athboy Celtic this week.
