The Reserves began their season with a disappointing 1-0 defeat away to Carrick Rovers. After falling behind in the 1st 10 minutes and then losing influential centre back John Kelly to injury 5 mins later things looked bleak for Celtic but they showed great determination and were unlucky not to go in level at the break.

The 2nd half began as the 1st ended with Celtic in the ascendency and Carrick were beginning to look ragged as Celtic got closer to equalising when Gavin Meehans strike hit the crossbar. The last 15 mins was all one way pressure but Carrick managed to hang on and inflict the 1st defeat of the season on the Celtic reserves who will rue a number of missed chances & wonder how they came out of this tie pointless.

Best for Trim were Noel Payne, Adam Campbell and Gavin Meehan.
