While the Seniors, Schoolboys & Sevens Clubs continue to prepare for the big kick off of the new 2007/8 season later this month the Club Ladies are in the middle of their (summer) season and continue to turn out highly impressive performances weekly in their quest for honours in the Dublin Women’s Soccer League. Playing in Division 3 North they are well placed to launch their bid for runners up spot as they enter the final phase of the program having won five of their eight league games to date.

On Monday this week the DWSL controvercially compelled them to play their home league match against Monaghan Utd. in Monaghan and they almost produced the shock of the year when the lead the unbeaten league leaders until 10 minutes from the end. Christine Watters had struck for Celtic after five minutes but they fell foul of some unsatisfactory referring decisions in the closing stages when they conceded three late goals.

Tonight in the DWSL North Eastern Cup they produced another stunning display this time against Premier Division side Drogheda Utd and having fought back to lead 2-1 they lost out by the odd goal in five. The winning goal for Drogheda came from the penalty spot after a error by the referee five minutes from the end. On target were Sharon Molloy & Avril McGowan again.

In both games keeper Susan Clancy (pictured) peformed heroics and other to impress were Avril McGowan, Louise Hayes, Michelle Doyle, Sharon Molloy, Sabrina Gibney & Janet McElroy.
