At the Annual General meeting of the Meath & District League, held in Slane last Tuesday night, the motion to switch the playing season from August/May to March/November was defeated narrowly. Requiring a two thirds majority the motion was supported by 38 of the Clubs that attended. The relaining 21 voted against the motion. A switch of 2 votes would have carried the motion and the view held generally in football circles is that it is only a matter of time before it is adopted. A motion to prevent it from being raised again for three seasons was defeated. It will probably come up for consideration again next year.
