Next Sunday afternoon the Club’s Reserve Team under the management of Luke Dempsey travels to Dundalk to take on A Reserve Division side Glaslough in the final of this year’s MDL Reserve Cup. They are bidding to retain the trophy which was won twelve months ago when the Club Reserves defeated Glenmuir 2-1 in a most entertaing game at the MDL Grounds.
On the way to the final the team have recorded some impressive results. Slane Reserves were trounced 4-0 back in November. On target in Slane that day were Gavin Meehan, John Bligh & Nicky Maxwell (2). OMP were beaten 2-0 in January at Tully Park thanks to goals by Colm Doyle & Alan Douglas. Next up were Longwood who lost 2-1 to the Celts at Tully Park recently – Alan McCormack converted a penalty & Danny Quinn hit the other. The Club Thirds were beaten 4-1 at Tully Park in the quarter final. The marksmen that day were Alan McCormack once again from the spot, Paul Munnelly, Alan Douglas & Seamus Harte. In the semi final last weekend a single goal from Gavin Meehan was enough to see off Square Utd.
Hopes are high that the season will end on a high for the Reserves and supporters are asked to come along to cheer on the Trim lads on Sunday next. Kick off is 2.30pm in Glenmuir.
