Mixed fortunes this weekend for Club teams in local action with four wins, a walkover, a draw & one defeat out of seven games scheduled.
The Reserves defeated Longwood 2-1 at Tully Park to advance in the MDL Reserve Cup. Alan McCormack converted a penalty & Danny Quinn got the other. Also in the MDL the Thirds drew yet again in the League (eight draws so far – the most in the MDL B Reserve Division). Kingscourt were the opposition (away) and Michael Tyndall hit both goals to earn a share of the spoils.
Pride of place in the NECSL goes to Brian Flood’s U12B side who travelled to Navan Town for a Shield match and came away 3-2 victors thanks to goals by Glenn Flood (one from the penalty spot) & Stephen Calter.
The U12A team lost on penalties at home to Parkvilla in the Shield. The game finished scoreless after extra time and Parkvilla went through 4-2 on penalties. Celtic scorers not to hand yet.
The U13s took on Athboy in Athboy in the Challenge Cup and emerged as winners after a seven goal game during which they trailed three times. Shane O’Connor, Kark Reilly & Robert Sweeney (2) hit the goals. Sweeney scored the winner with a converted penalty at the very end.
Bailieboro Utd. conceded their Shield tie against the 15s yesterday morning.
The U11s hit 12 goals without reply against Parkvilla in their NECSL Shield match in Navan. On target were Jack Byrne with a hat-trick, Stephen Moroney & Ferghal O’Hare with 2 each and Chris O’Gara, Cillian Madden, Aaron Reilly, Kevin Nally & Shane Moore with 1 apiece.
