The Club U11s defeated Navan Town 3-2 after extra time in the NECSL Cup this evening at Tully Park, in a close game after the teams finished level 2-2 after normal time. Ferghal O’Hare hit two and Jack Byrne added to his im[pressive tally with the other. The game doubled as a Shield match also (both teams play in the same ’round robin’ group) and because the game finished level after normal time, they take a point each away.
Last night the 13s played their penultimate league match at home to Carrick Rovers from Carrickmacross but despite dominating the game from start to finish they had to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw. Carrick took an early lead after some poor passing across the back and it took until the second period before parity was restored thanks to a long range Gavin Mullen strike. The U13s have one game left – at home to Kentstown and that will decide the destination of this year’s title ragardless of the result in Kentown’s other game against East Meath.
