Celtic teams recorded six wins out of six today in the NECSL to complete a great days work in local League & Cup competitions.

Pride of place goes to the U11s who hit four without reply away to Johnstown to win the Div 1 league title. Kevin Nally, Jack Byrne, Ferghal O’Hare & Neil sweeney were on target, Congratulatuions to John, Mark and all of the boys on winning their league with games to spare. The Champions are pictured below in their new tracksuits recently sponsored by Hunky Dory’s courtesy of Robert Maguire.


The U13s hit 12 goals without reply against Enfield in their NECSL Cup tie which had been switched to Tully Park. Karl Reilly scored 4, Rian Wogan 3, Gavin Mullen 2 and Sean McGee, Joan Lehmann & Darryl Kelly hit 1 each. The 13s are still on target to retain their league title.

The U14s travelled to play East Meath Utd in Laytown and won comfortably by a score of 6-2 to secure three more league points. Darragh Scannell found the net 4 times and Conor Smith scored twice.

Ron Metcalfe’s U12s took on Navan Town in Navan in their NECSL Cup match and came home happy after a fine 5-1 win over their hosts. Scorers not yet known.

The U15s recorded a facile 11-0 win over visitors Albion Rovers B in their NECSL Cup match in Tully Park. Darren Osborne hit 3, James Allen 2 and Jamie Lee, Sean Foley, Colm Smith, Keith Earls & Thomas Noone all hit one each.

The best Celtic Cup performance of the day however took place in Athboy where the U16s took on the more fancied locals and came home smiling after a most satisfactory 4-3 victory after extra time. Manager Michael Loughlin (pictured below) was delighted with his team’s performance and now looks forward to the next round. The marksmen were Donal Loughlin & Stephen Moriarty. The winning goal came with only one minute left in extra time.
