The decision by Nick Nally to take part in the six team invitation tournament in the Phoenix Park recently provided a great boost for his team when the team it emerged as tournament winners after impressive displays against a number of top sides.

In their opening game the Trim boys defeated Swords Rovers (NDSL) 2-0 on penalties after an exciting 2-2 draw. Robert Sweeney & Gavin Mullen were on target. James Mitchell was the hero between the sticks in the shoot-out.

Second up was Drogheda Boys from the DDSL and again Gavin Mullen found the net along with Joey Corrigan in a very tight game. Drogheda scored a consolation goal late in the game.

Dunboyne (NDSL) were beaten 5-2 in the semi final thanks to scores by Rian Wogan (3), Jack Reilly & Sean Spratt.

In the final Celtic met Swords Rovers again (they defeated Ratoath Harps in the other semi-final) and this time they did not need penalties after a fine goal by Gavin Mullen again decided the tie.

Manager Nick Nally expressed great satisfaction afterwards with the display of his team. ‘This was a fine squad performance with every player contributing to the victory.’
