A programme of events has been arranged for the group by Club Secretary Des Clancy & Committee Member Ciaran Gaughran with the help of team officials in the Schoolboy Club including pitch & putt, a table quiz, swimming & a trip to Dublin.

An Official Welcome will be delivered by Cllr. Ray Butler Chairman of the Town Council in the Castle Arch Hotel at 11am on Tuesday morning. The official Test Match for the Twinning Cup will be contested at U13 level next Thursday at Tully Park at 2pm.

Schoolboy Results

Today was another very satisfactoy day for the Club’s Schoolboy teams in league action in their respective Divisions of the NECSL.

At Tully Park this morning the 13As picked up three more points when they accounted for visitors Kells Boys 3-2. On target were Jack Reilly (2) & Gareth White. Still unbeaten in Division 1.

Not to be outdone the 13bs won to remain unbeaten also in Division 2. They defeated Agher Park in Agher by a score of 4-2. The goals were scored by Dean Courtney (2) & Fergus Mulryan (2) to keep the management team of Brian Flood & Bobby Connell very happy.

The 14s travelled to Collon in Co. Louth & came home with three points after an emphatic 7-0 win in their Division 1 match. The marksmen were Mark Little (3), Donal Callan (2) & Joan Lehmann (2).

Unfortunately the 11Bs lost 1-3 at home to Parkvilla in Division 2 in a game that left manager Kieron Fletcher very unhappy with the referee’s performance on the day. The scorer was Cormac Harten.

The 11As won 2-0 away to Enfield Celtic thanks to strikes by Daniel Lewis & Pierre Fox to secure three more Division points.

The 15s lost 1-3 in Tully Park in their nDivision one fixture. Manager John Marron is finding life in the top flight difficult this season but certainly not for the want of effort on the part of his boys.

The 16s won 1-0 at home to visitors Albion Rovers in Division 1 in an entertaining game during which the only goal was scored by Damien Quinn.

Four League Wins in a Row for Reserves

This afternoon at Tully Park the Club’s Reserves defeated visitors Albion Rovers 2-0 in the Premier Reserve Division of the MDL thanks to two goals by Michael Tyndall & Mark Scanlon. Although scoreless at the break the game at Tully Park could have turned around a with much different scoreline if either team had taken the opportunities that came their way but it was Celtic that took control with two second half goals. Pictures are scorer Mark Scanlon & manager Luke Dempsey, who was delighted to see his side’s winning run continue. Well done lads!

Seniors Out of Leinster Junior Cup

The Club Seniors travelled to Athlone last Sunday to take on Willow Park in the second round of the Leinster Junior Cup but came away disappointed on the wrong end of a 1-3 defeat. Craig O’Hanlon headed Celtic’s goal after the home side took a 2-0 lead & Paul Campbell struck the woodwork in the second half but it was the home side who scored again to advance to the next round.

The Seniors have been drawn at home to Navan Town in the first round of the MDL Challenge Cup. The game is scheduled to be played on or before 11th November.

Schoolboy Results

No doubt about the performance of the week this weekend - it has to be the first win of the season for the U11Bs who travelled to Newtwon & came away with their first points of the season in Division 2. Liam Fletcher, Brian McKeown (pen) & Cormac Harten found the net in a 3-0 win to wash away all the recent disappointment of manager Kieron Fletcher, pictured here during the game against Parkvilla in Tully Park earlier this season. Well done boys!

John Sweeney’s 12s defeated Parkvilla in Navan by a score of 3-1 in Division 1. The scorers were Stephen Moroney with a hat-trick & Bart Lekke, one of the growing number of very welcome ‘foreign’ signings in the Club.

Ron Metcalfe’s 13As completed a double for the Club over Parkvilla in Navan when they accounted for the their hosts by a score of 3-1 to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Patrick Lennon, Gareth White were on target & the third goal was scored by Colin Stowe with a wonderful long range ’screamer’.

Disappointingly the 14s lost away to Kells 2-3 having squandered for the second time in recent weeks a 2-0 lead. Manager Nick Nally has now seen his side, champions from last season, drift off the pace in recent weeks & hard work will be required in the weeks ahead if his team is to retain its Division 1 title.

The 15s under the stewardship this morning of assistant manager Brendan McGrenra lost 0-1 away to Kentstowm - a disappointing result afer last week’s fine performance against Parkvilla who won the game from the penalty spot four minutes into injury time at the end of the game.

The 16s played out a scoreless draw at home to Albion Rovers. The result keeps them well positioned just off the pace in Division 1.

The 11As & 13Bs had no games today.

Sideline Directions

The unbeaten start to the season by the Club’s U13B side is due in no small measure to the management team of Brian Flood & his assistant Bobby Connell. Their astute leadership has guided the team to five straight victories since the kick off in August.

Bobby is pictured here at tyhe end of September giving sideline directions during the home game against Navan Town.

Keep up the good work lads!

Schoolboy Results

Once again the Club Schoolboy teams recorded a mixed bag of results in the various League games in the NECSL last weekend.

The most impressive result of the weekend was that 10-1 win recorded by the 11As in their home Division 1 match against visitors Athboy. Peter Gavin (3), James Cullen (2), Anthony Moran (2), Eoin O’Connor, Kylre Dixon & Daniel Lewis were the scorers. Pierre Fox enjoyed a fine game in a fine team peformance all round which left manager Gerry Harte very happy with his day’s work.

Unfortunately the 11Bs losing run continued when they lost 0-2 at home to visitors Johnstown in Division 2. Eamonn McGloughlin, Emma McGloughlin, Neil Reilly & Liam O’Donnell all impressed.

The 12s suffered a rare Division 1 defeat to lose their unbeaten start to the season in Navan, going down 1-3 to an impressive Navan Town side. Stephen Moroney was the scorer. Manager John sweeney will be keen to see his team get back to winning ways next weekend.

Ron Metcalfe’s 13As continued their unbeaten start to the season in Division 1, winning 5-1 at Tully Park against Kingscourt Harps in Divion 1. On target were Ciaran O’Rourke (2), Jack Reilly (2) & Aaron Winters. Colin Stowe commanded midfield through & Eric Hyland also impressed.

The 13Bs also remain unbeaten since the start of the season under the stewardship of Brian Flood. They took on Newtown Utd away in Division 2 & won by the only goal of the game scored by Fergus Mulryan in the dying minutes. Others to shine on the day were Colin Keane & Thomas Crinion.

The 15s won a valuable Division 1 point when they drew 3-3 at home to Parkvilla from Navan thanks to goals by Ryan Keegan, Cian McGrenra & Bob Maguire. The game was scoreless at the break. Maguire was outstanding for Celtic from start to finish.

The 16s also drew to claim a point in their Division 1 game with Torro Utd. Diarmuid Higgins & Darren McGee found the net. Celtic had to come from behind twice. Keeper Michel Lydon impressed in goal.

The 17s played Artane Beaumont in the FAI Cup but lost 2-6 to their Dublin opponents. Rory McEntee & Eunan McGrenra were the scorers.
