Under 13a Match Reports

17/11/07 U13 SFAI Troy Cup
Result: Trim Celtic 1-1 Mullingar Athletic AET (3-5 pens)
Halftime: Trim Celtic 1-1 Mullingar Athletic
Scorer for Trim: Aaron Winters

Trim U13As lost their first game of the season going down 5-3 on penalties after extra time in this SFAI Cup tie. Despite a fine overall performance they just could not get the second all important goal to win the tie. After conceding a goal within the first five minutes, Trim fought their way back into this game & then started to get on top playing some great football. It was not long before they got on level terms with a great corner from Eric Hyland which was pounced upon by Aaron Winters who hammered it into the net. Trim raised their game to an even higher level & started to push Mullingar back into their own half. The forwards & wingers were starting to cause havoc with every attack. The second half kicked off & Trim carried on where they had left off in the first half, controlling the game against a very good Mullingar team. Again & again they created chances but without a ‘killer’ finish. Both sides went into extra time having given everything but with both defences having outstanding games. It was then on to a penalty shoot-out which they lost 3-5. A great all round effort.

Trim Celtic (squad): P. Lynch, E. Hyland, B. FitzGerald, S. Downes, C. Stowe, A. Winters, J. Metcalfe, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, J. Johnston, C. O’Rourke, S. Dalton, J. Shanley, G. White, D. Buckley.

10/11/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Johnstown 0-4 Trim Celtic
Halftime: Johnstown 0-2 Trim Celtic
Scorers for Trim: Colin Stowe (2), Jack Reilly, Aaron Winters

Trim continued their impressive unbeaten start to the season, with this comfortable 4-0 win against Johnstown in Navan. The first goal came after only three minutes from a free kick; the ball was crossed in by Colin Stowe, Aaron Winters headed it forward to Jack Reilly who headed in at the back post. The next goal came from Colin Stowe who picked up the ball outside the 6 yard box & drilled the ball into the corner of the net. Jack Johnston scored another goal for Trim before half time, but it was harshly judged off side. The second half started the same as the first finished with Trim controlling the game & it was not long before the third went in. Again it was Colin Stowe who picked the ball up outside of the opposition box & curled it over the keeper for another outstanding goal. Trim’s defence were in no mood for conceding a goal & never gave Johnstown any opportunity to score. With Aaron Winters controlling the midfield it was not long before Trim got their fourth goal. This time it came from a corner from Jordan Metcalfe & it was Aaron Winters who leapt at the back post & powerfully headed the ball into the top corner. Conor Henebery was causing Johnstown no-end of problems & was unlucky to see his shot smash off the post, after a fantastic individual run down the wing.  It was another impressive performance from Trim.

Trim Celtic (squad): P. Lynch, B. FitzGerald, D. Buckley, C. Stowe, S. Downes, S. Dalton, A. Winters, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, J. Johnston, C. O’Rourke, J. Metcalfe, J. Shanley, G. White, P. Lennon.

27/10/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Trim Celtic 3-2 Kells Boys
Halftime: Trim Celtic 2-1 Kells Boys
Scorers for Trim: Jack Reilly (2), Gareth White

Trim continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought win against a good Kells team. Trim took the lead in this game with a well taken goal by Jack Reilly. They continued to make all the play & were unlucky not to go two up when Colin Stowe, from outside the box, hit a free kick which struck the bottom of the post. With ten minutes to go in the first half, Kells were back on level terms when Trim’s defence got into a mix up & the ball fell to a Kells player who tapped it in from close range. It was not long before Trim went back into the lead with another great individual effort from Jack Reilly. In the second half Kells started to take control of the game & were the team who where playing all the football. Against the run of play, Trim added to their lead with a great header from Gareth White from a corner.  Kells continued to push to get back into the game & with 3 minutes go, they got a goal back. Trim fell below the higher standards they had set themselves this season but still took all three points.

Trim Celtic (squad): P. Lynch, E. Hyland, D. Buckley, C. Stowe, S. Downes, J. Metcalfe, A. Winters, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, J. Johnston, J. Shanley, B. FitzGerald, G. White, P. Lennon, S. Dalton, C. O’Rourke

20/10/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Parkvilla 1-3 Trim Celtic A
Halftime: Parkvilla 1-1 Trim Celtic A
Scorers for Trim: Gareth White, Patrick Lennon, Colin Stowe

Trim 13As continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought win against a very good Parkvilla team. It was Parkvilla who took the lead in this game with Trim getting off to a slow start. Trim responded very well to being a goal down & it was not long before Trim were back with a fantastic through ball from Jack Reilly into the path of Gareth White who coolly slotted the ball home. The first half continued to be a well fought game. The second half started the same way as the first ended with both teams giving it everything. It was turning into a fantastic game of football and Trim with 20 minutes to go started to get a stranglehold on the game. It was not long before Trim got the break-through with a great individual effort from Patrick Lennon, who came in from the wing & from a tight angle slid the ball home. Trim continued to dominate the play & scored shortly after again. This time it was another thunderbolt from Colin Stowe from outside the box. It flew into the top corner of the net. Trim were unlucky not to go further ahead with Conor Henebery hitting the post twice. Credit was due to Parkvilla who continued to make it a great contest but the Trim defence were once again playing great defensive football. As always the team gave everything but special mention goes to the defence of Paul Lynch, Eric Hyland, Shane Downes, Colin Stowe & David Buckley.

Trim Celtic (squad): P. Lynch, D. Buckley, C. Stowe, S. Downes, E. Hyland, C. O’Rourke, S. Dalton, A. Winters, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, G. White, B. FitzGerald, J. Johnston, P. Lennon, K. Maguire, J. Shanley, J. Metcalfe.

13/10/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Trim Celtic A 5-1 Kingscourt Harps
Halftime: Trim Celtic A 3-1 Kingscourt Harps
Scorers for Trim: Ciaran O’Rourke (2),  Jack Reilly (2),  Aaron Winters

Trim Celtic march on in the league with another impressive win against Kingscourt. The match started with Trim having most of the possession but it wasn’t until the 19th minute when Ciarán O’Rourke came in from the left wing to score from a cross. They maintained the pressure & within 2 minutes, Aaron Winters struck home with an impressive shot. Trim were in control of the game at this stage with the defence dealing very well with every Kingscourt attack. Celtic concentrated on keeping the ball wide with Conor Henebery & Ciaran O’Rourke just too quick for Kingscourt on the wings. O’Rourke got his 2nd goal on the 28th minute & were coasting but then Kingscourt got a goal back against the run of play from a free kick. Paul Lynch gave very solid performance throughout. The second half started well with Jack Reilly taking a lovely goal from a low cross. Eric Hyland came up from defence & hit the crossbar & then Jack Reilly scored his second goal in the 44th minute. Colin Stowe directed play from defence & led by example as captain with some fantastic individual skill. This was a great team performance and well done to all the lads.

Trim Celtic (squad): P. Lynch, D. Buckley, C. Stowe, S. Downes, E. Hyland, C. O’Rourke, S. Dalton, A. Winters, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, G. White, B. FitzGerald, J. Johnston, P. Lennon, K. Maguire, J. Shanley.

Halftime: Slane Wanderers 0-10 Trim Celtic
Scorers for Trim: Jack Reilly (7), Aaron Winters (4), Gareth White (2), Jack Johnston (2), Sean Dalton, Jake Shanley, Conor Henebery
Trim Celtic U13s made club history at the weekend winning 18- 0 away to Slane Wanderers, this being the highest score ever achieved by any Trim Celtic team in a competitive match. Trim scored 10 goals in the first half. Aaron Winters got a superb hat-trick, while Jack Reilly got an amazing five first half goals. Gareth White and Sean Dalton both got one each. They totally dominated the first half and looked like scoring every time they attacked. Trim started the second half the way they finished the first half by scoring more goals. Gareth White added to his first half goal. Aaron Winters scored another goal to make it four goals in one game. Jack Reilly added another two goals in the second half to make it seven goals in one game. This was another magnificent display by the whole team who now progress into the next round of the cup.

Trim Celtic (squad): G. White, E. Hyland, D. Buckley, S. Downes, P. Lennon, A. Winters, S. Dalton, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, J. Johnston, C. O’Rourke, G. White, C. O’Rourke, J. Metcalfe, B. FitzGerald, K. McGuire, J. Shanley.

29/9/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Torro United 1-9 Trim Celtic
Halftime: Torro United 0-4 Trim Celtic
Scorers for Trim: Jack Reilly (4), Conor Henebery (3), Jack Johnston, Patrick Lennon.

Today was another goal feast for Trim’s 13As with a 9-1 win away to Torro United. Trim scored four goals in the first half – two from Conor Henebery, while Jack Johnston and Jack Reilly both got one each. Trim started the second half the way they finished the first half by scoring nearly every time they attacked. Five more were added in the second period. Jack Reilly went on to complete a fantastic performance with a second half hat-trick to add to his one goal in the first half. Conor Henebery completed his hat-trick with a well taken penalty & another great performance.  Patrick Lennon came off the bench to also get on the score sheet.  The pick of the goals this week was by Jack Johnston who took the ball down from a great pass from Jordan Metcalfe. He beat one man & rifled the ball home into the bottom of the net. The defence once again gave another fantastic performance. A dream start to the season!

Trim Celtic: G. White, E. Hyland, D. Buckley, S. Downes, C. Stowe, J. Metcalfe, S. Dalton, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, C. O’Rourke, P. Lennon, K. Maguire.

15/9/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Bailieboro 0-2 Trim Celtic
Halftime: Bailieboro 0-1 Trim Celtic
Scorer for Trim: Gareth White (2)

Trim continued their good start to the season with another win, this time against Bailieboro. This was a very one sided game with Trim applying all the pressure throughout. Wastefulness in front of goal and heroics by the Bailieboro goalkeeper kept the scoreline down from start to finish. Trim’s first goal was an absolute scorcher from Gareth White struck from twenty five yards. It nestled into the top corner of the net. The first half finished the way it started with Trim having all the possession and all the chances. The second half was much the same with Trim playing some great football but unable to grab the second goal. On the rare occasion Bailieboro did attack, the Trim defence was strong. With five minutes to go, Celtic finally got the ‘insurance’ goal after some great link play between Ciaran O’Rourke and Jack Reilly who slid the ball across the face of the goal for Gareth White to tap in from two yards. Overall the team played very well and deserved their win.

Trim Celtic: P. Lynch, C. Stowe, D. Buckley, S. Downes, E. Hyland, S. Dalton, A. Winters, C. Henebery, J. Reilly, G. White, C. O’Rourke.
Subs: J. Metcalfe for S. Dalton, B. FitzGerald for E. Hyland, J. Johnston for G. White, K. McGuire for S. Downes, J. Shanley for C. O’Rourke.

1/9/07 U13 NECSL Lge Div 1
Result: Athboy Celtic 2-3 Trim Celtic
Halftime: Athboy Celtic 0-3 Trim Celtic
Scorers for Trim: Jack Reilly (2), Gareth White.

Celtic’s U13s got off to a great start for the new season with an away win against the team that won the league last year. Trim took the lead after 10 minutes with Conor Henebery receiving the ball down the wing from Aaron Winters. Conor then crossed the ball in for Gareth White to meet it with a diving header at the near post. Trim continued to keep Athboy under pressure with waves of attacks. It was not long before they scored again with great play in the mid field by Aaron Winters. He played the ball to Jack Reilly who kept a cool head and rounded the keeper to slot the ball home. Trim continued to press and it wasn’t long before the third goal arrived thanks to another cool finish by Jack Reilly. Trim did not want the first half to end as they continued to play some outstanding football with Ciaran O’Rourke continually causing the Athboy defence all sorts of problems. The second half belonged to Athboy who pushed forward continually for a goal to get them back into the game.  With 15 minutes left they got the break they deserved & scored. Trim’s defence held strong until the last minute when they conceded another goal but it was too late for Athboy with the final whistle being blown at 3-2. The defensive performance in the second half was fantastic to keep Athboy at bay. A great start to the season thankas to a great team effort.

Trim Celtic (squad): Paul Lynch, Colin Stowe, David Buckley, Shane Downes, Eric Hyland, Sean Dalton, Aaron Winters, Conor Henebery, Jack Reilly, Gareth White, Jordan Metcalfe, Barry FitzGerald.

The 11As entertained Carrick Rovers at Tully Park & drew 2-2 in an entertaining game. Mark Kane hit both goals.

The 11Bs lost again but showed another huge improvement in going down by the odd goal in five away to Torro Utd. Alan Troy & Ryan Toughy were on target.

The 12s travelled to Drogheda & came home happy after a 3-0 win over Drogheda Town to maintain their excellent start to the season. Jack Byrne & Kevin McKeown both scored but the feature of the match was a goal scored from a kick out by keeper Daniel McGarvey!

The 13As kept their 100% record intact with an impressive 9-1 win away to Torro Utd. Jack Reilly hit four Conor Henebery hit three and Jack Johnston & Patrick Lennoe scored one each.

The 13Bs also have a 100% start after three games played. They defeated Navan Town in Tully Park by a score of 4-0. Anthony Peppard struck twice and Dean Courtney & Glenn Flood hit one each in a fine team performance. Glenn is pictured above sweeping home his goal. For more pictures, click here.

Impressive Win for Seniors

The Club Seniors took on high-flying Duleek at the Tollstone in Duleek this afternoon & turned in a very impressive performance to collect three more valuable MDL Premier Division points. They lead 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from Ronan Hayes, Mark Gilsenan (pictured) & Paul Campbell, who gave a masterful display in midfield. Dominic Martin contributed with a number of fine saves.

Yesterday’s scheduled Reserve team game at home to Rock Celtic was postponed because of a bereavement in the opposition camp.

Schoolboy Results

This weekend’s schedule of Schoolboy games suffered from a number of postponements, sadly some of them as a result of the unavailability of referees. Four teams reported to Tully Park for action yesterday only to find their scheduled fixtures unable to go ahead. The games that suffered were the 15s V Parkvilla & the 13As V Johnstown.

The U17 & U13B games had already been postponed.

The 16s travelled to Kentstown – always a difficult venue to get a result, but they came home happy after a fine 2-1 win thanks to goals by Josh McDermott & Daniel Quinn. Four points from their two Division 1 league games to date represents a very satisfactory start to the season for them.

Rian Wogan & Donal Callan found the net in a 2-0 win for the 14s away to last year’s Division 1 runners-up Kentstown as Nick Nally’s side got back to winning ways after their unexpected reverse last weekend. Well done!

John Sweeney’s 12s maintained their 100% start to their Division 1 league programme by defeating visitors Johnstown 3-1. On target were Aaron Kelly 2 & Jack Byrne.

Unfortunately the 11Bs lost 0-3 in Division 2 when they visited Enfield.
