Flag Day 2007

Once again the Club is endebted to the people of Trim (and many more) for their wonderful generosity in contributing to our Flag Day collection this year. Despite the inclement weather yesterday - not so bad to day, so many people took the time to stop and support our collectors around the town very generously and we salute everyone who did so. Without your support we would not be able to do the job we do and we are very grateful.

Picture shows the Chairman of our Sevens Club Pat Hanson with his daughters Sinead & Ciara on duty yesterday afternoon.

Thank you to all our collectors and to everyone who contributed.

Chelsea in the Community

Despite the atrocious weather locally, the Chelsea in the Community Soccer Camp at Tully Park last week proved to be a great success and over 60 young footballers thoroughly enjoyed their week of supervised football coaching by members of the Chelsea Coaching Academy in London.

Nick Nally had Tully Park in its best possible condition for the event thanks to much hard work by Robert Bradley, Des FitzGerald and himself and no effort was spared to ensure that all the participants had an enjoyable week.

Unfortunately the weather was not as well organised and it was necessary to move the camp to the MDL Grounds for two days with the very kind permission of Gerry Gorman, Secretary of the MDL.

Ollie O’Brien Cup

O'Brien Cup 20070057

This afternoon at the Vintage & Veteran Car Rally in the Porchies Field, the Club staged its annual mini tournament in memory of the late Ollie O’Brien, former member of Trim Celtic who passed away two years ago. Several dozen young players from last season’s Sevens teams and a few visitors provided great entertainment for the on-looking spectators including many parents and a most enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
Ollie’s sister Martina Ashe was there to present the cup to James McKeown and the captain of the winning team Dean Egan was also presented with a sounenir cup. All of the players who participated received medals kindly sponsored by the Committee of the Vintage & Veteran Car Rally.
Club Secretary Des Clancy congratulated all of the boys and reminded everyone of the contribution that Ollie O’Brien made to the affairs of the Club over many years as a player and as a manager.
John Sweeney was referee for the day and did a spliendid job from start to finish.
