Paul Campbell Named MDL Player of the Year

This evening in the Conyngham Arms Hotel in Slane at the Annual Presentation Function of the Meath & District League, Trim Celtic Senior Team player Paul Campbell was named as overall Player of the Year in the MDL adding yet another chapter to the story of the Club’s success in the last 12 months.

‘This is a wonderful tribute to a magnificent player who played his heart out for the Club and who contributed so much to the winning of the Premier Division last season’, said Club Chairman Robert Bradley, who attended the function with other Club Officials, players & supporters. Sadly Paul was unable to collect the trophy himself ,being abroad on holiday but his father Peter, who assisted Manager Alan Kirwan last season was present to accept it.

‘This is a great honour for the Club, for Paul himself and for his family, coming as it does from the voting of the various Clubs he played against all season’, said Club Secretary Des Clancy.

Major Decision at AGM

At the Annual General Meeting of the Club last Wednesady night a decision was taken to implement a major overhaul of the Club which will involve significant restructuring. Club Secretary Des Clancy highlighted the expansion of the Club in recent years in response to the ever increasing numbers of players & teams and advised that there was an urgent need now to update systems within the Club to cope with the extra workload involved.

Separate Clubs will be set up in respect of the four main sections of the Club – Adult Men, Ladies/Girls, Schoolboys (eleven-a-side) and Schoolboys (seven-a-side). Each will be run by its own Committee with its own responsibilities & authority and each will report to a new Management Committee.

‘We want to see football people running the football & we want to recruit people with business or administrative skills to a Management Committee to run the business affairs of the Club with responsibility for the development of Tully Park. This Management Committee will eventually be converted to a Limited Company and it will retain overall authority over the four Football Clubs ongoing. It will take a while to put the necessary structures into place but interim measures are already in place to ensure a seamless change over’ – Des Clancy.

The outgoing Committee were all re-elected an an interim measure and it is anticipated that an Extraordinary General meeting will be called in the near future to formally agree the restructure.

Committee details can be found on the Club Contact Information page.
