Weekend Results

The Club Seniors beat Slane Wanderers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Tully Park to stay in the hunt for MDL Premier Division honours - the outcome will not be decided until the last round of games. Because of the postponement of the MDL Challenge Cup to next Saturday, this last round of League fixtures will not now take place until next Sunday week in all probability when Celtic will play host to Rock Celtic from Dundalk and Albion Rovers will entertain Square Utd. In the meantime the Club awaits news in relation to its appeal of the three points deducted by the MDL recently. The case is scheduled to be heard next Thursday.

The 16s bowed out of the NECSL Cup losing 0-3 to Kentstown away on Saturday. The 15s also lost in the cup going down 1-3 to Parkvilla. Jamie Lee was on target.

The 14s defeated visitors Oldcastle 2-0 at Tully Park to wrap up their League programme. On target were Dara Scannell & Darren Melia. Before the game Margaret Sheridan of the NECSL presented the League trophy.(see photo below)

Title Deciders

Good luck to Nick Nally and Michael Loughlin who both lead their teams into NECSL title deciders tomorrow (Monday) evening in their final League outings of the 2006/7 season.

The NECSL Division 1 title is at stake in Tully Park for the 13s where they take on League leaders Kentstown knowing that a draw will suit the visitors. Having won the U12 League title last season Nick’s boys will be determined to hold on to their crown and if all of his key men peform to their best, then a win is well within them. Kick off 7pm.

The Division 2 title is the prize for the 16s in Athboy where they travel knowing that a draw will be enough to clinch the chase for the League. Michael Loughlin watched his lads defeat Athboy in Athboy in the Cup some weeks ago and he will be hoping for another success over the same opposition. Having hit seventeen goals without reply in their last three competitive games, the bteam is confident of a result.
