Another enjoyable and successful day for the Club’s seven-a-side teams at the MDL! Plenty of happy Celtic faces especially on the many young boys and girls wearing the Club colours. Nice to see so many Mums and Dads there also!

The U10 Eagles played three times today and came away with three wins after their busy morning. They defeated Athboy Panthers 2-1 thanks to strikes from James Cullen & Cian Goodwin. Against Trim Town they won 2-0 with Mark Kane & James Cullen again on target. And to complete a fine day’s worh they defeated Parkvilla 3-1. On target were Liam O’Donnell, Cian Goodwin & James Cullen once again. The U10 Jets are still struggling to find their form losing 0-1 to Trim Town & losing 0-4 to Trim Raptors but Fiona Shiels took great encopuragement from a much improved day’s work and hopes are high for a first win maybe next week. For Gerry Harte’s U10 Raptors, Kyle Dixon, Eoin O’Connor, David Rennick & Pierre Fox were all on target against the Jets. In their second game they ran out easy winners against Torro by a score of 11-0. The scorers were Kyle Dixon, Luke Moran & Jack McGowan with 1 each, Eoin O’Connor & Pierre Fox with 3 each and David Rennick hit 2. One win and one draw was the result of a satisfactory morning’s work for the Cubs managed by Peter Madden. The team played out a scoreless draw against Enfield. Neilly Reilly & Meara Owen-Griffiths impressed. In their second game they defeated Athboy Panthers 4-0. The scorers were Daniel Lewis 2 (1 penalty), Sean Cumiskey & Cormac Harten. Players to catch the eye in this game were Anthony Moran, Cian Nevin, Brian Glennon & Fionnan Madden who kept two clean sheet on the day.

The U9 Tigers enjoyed two fine wins. Daire Lynch (3) & Adam McCarrick were on target to defeat the Trim Celtic Swifts 3-0 and James McKeown was the marksman in their 1-0 win over the Parkvilla Warriors. In their other game the Swifts lost 1-2 to Trim Town. Ciaran McIntosh was the scorer. The U9 Spikes won one game and lost the other. Against Oristown they ran out 6-3 winners. On the scoresheet were Owen Daly (2), Jack Dowling, Leon Farmer, Christopher McMahon & Adam Cregan. Alex Walsh & Luke Doyle also impressed. The lost out to Parkvilla Warriers 1-3 & Jack Dowling was again on target. Anthony Losty, Sean O’Toole & Colm Lennon all showed up well. Manager Paddy Doyle expressed himself happy after the displays.

Adrian Geraghty enjoyed watching his U8 Pumas defeat Torro 3-0 thanks to goals by Conor Sweeney (2) & Adam Sheehan. In defence Karl Corcoran was outstanding. In their second outing they defeated Parkvilla 2-1 courtesy of two Mikey Cullen goals. This game featured some impressive midfield play by Pierce Darby. The U8 Falcons also came away with two wins this morning. They won 9-2 against Enfield Athletico – on target were Ben Harrison (4), Dave Murtagh (3) & Niall Durkan and Peter Farrell with 1 each. In their second contest tbey defeated Torro 8-0. This time the scorers were Peter Farrell (3), Ben Harrison (2), Niall Durkan (2) and Eric Rispin. Pat Hanson saw his U8 Rovers come away with a win and a draw against Trim Town. The 1-0 win came courtesy of an OG and in the second game they drew 2-2 thanks to good goals by Ciara Hanson & Roisin Milner. This game featured an excellent display by Patrice Fox. The U8 Beavers drew both their games today. Their first game ended 4-4 with Alan Monaghan & Aaron Lynch both hitting 2 goals. In the second game they shared 4 goals with Enfield Milano. On target were Alan Monaghan & Michael Mahon (penalty) in a game which saw Brandon Mahony deliver a fine performance.
