The Club’s Schoolboy teams fared well for the most part on the opening day of the NECSL with three wins out of four games played in League competition.
The honour of scoring the first competitive NECSL goal of the season at Tully Park fell to U16 player Martin Whelan but his team eventually tired and went down 1-3 against Athboy. Martin is pictured below heading to the net. To see more pictures – click here.
Shay Lee’s U15s travelled to Kingscourt and his boys emerged comfortable winners by a scoreline of 4-1. Scott McGowan, Colm Smith (2) and Thomas Noone were on target.
The U12s also travelled to Kingscourt and enjoyed a great 2-0 win thanks to goals from Conor Henebery and Jack Johnston.
John Marron took his U14 boys to play Borora and ran up 9 goals to claim all three points. Final score 9-1.
Sad to report that the U13 game against Athboy scheduled for Tully Park this morning did not take place because the opposition did not appear. The matter will be referred to the NECSL for a decision.
