The news spread today that the Club had been targeted by thieves yesterday afternoon when it was revealed that a valuable piece of grass cutting equipment had been stolen from Tully Park yesterday.
The theft occurred shortly after the Reserve Team pre-season game yesterday afternoon and comes as a major blow at the start of the new season. Gardai have been advised.
‘We bought this ride-on brand new only a few weeks ago and it is now obvious that the thieves have been watching us. I was no more than a hundred yards away at the time, cutting the front pitch when the machine was removed. This is a huge blow to us’ said Club Chairman Robert Bradley this evening.
‘Over the years we have been targeted by vandals and pick-pockets but we have never suffered at the hands of thieves like this’ added Club Secretary Des Clancy. ‘It is at times like this that we ask ourselves why we bother to serve our community in such a loyal way. We have the best of people in this area out here serving the families of Trim and it is disgraceful that cowardly, dishonest people should treat them in this way.’
