NECSL Under 16 Shield Semi-Final
OMP Utd 1 – 2 Trim Celtic
Trim put in another fine team performance on Thursday night to reach the final of the NECSL Shield, it was Trims 3rd away tie in the competition but they produced a very professional performance against a tough OMP side. Trim dominated the game from start to finish and the result should have been a lot more comfortable only for some last ditch OMP defending and a number of missed chances. Graham Higgins opened the scoring for Trim after Ciaran Quinns free-kick was knocked down by Alan Douglas and Higgins finished cooly to score for the 5th consecutive game. In the 2nd half Trim continued to press and played some excellent football on a very bumpy and tight pitch. But Trim’s pressure paid of with 10 mins remaining when Graham Higgins weaved his way through the OMP defence to score his 12th of the season. OMP got a consolation with 2 mins to go but the result was never in doubt and Trim will go into the final full of confidence. Best for Trim were Graham Higgins, Philip O’Donohoe and Aaron Newman.
